posted 11 months ago1 comment

With the Independence Day holiday right on our heels, we decided to put together a list of video games in which you can save America this weekend. In between the BBQ’s and the fireworks, fire up these top 5 and show your patriotism!

Save America from an Alien Invasion

Duke Nukem Forever

Duke Nukem Forever

Send a message that you shouldn’t mess with the United States to the rest of the Universe by whoopin’ some alien ass in Duke Nukem Forever. Released just a few weeks ago, this isn’t the best game we’ve seen, but it’s the perfect one especially for this weekend. Duke Nukem Forever is available on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 (Although we recommend you get a PC copy, since it seems less buggy).

Save America from the Koreans

Homefront

Homefront

One year after the succession of Kim Jong-Il, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un reunites North and South Korea to form the Greater Korean Republic. A few years later, they invade the United States and now it’s up to you to help drive them out. Homefront is a first-person shooter released back in mid-March 2011 for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. You’ll play as members of a resistance movement fighting against a near-future Korean military occupation of the United States.

Save America from the Soviets

World in Conflict

World in Conflict

World in Conflict is set in an alternative 1989 in which the Soviet Union launches a surprise invasion on Seattle, Washington. This is a real-time tactical video game in which you’ll play as a field commander, leading the era’s most powerful military machines in order to retake America’s cities and suburbs. Released back in 2007 for the PC, World in Conflict also has an expansion pack titled “Soviet Assault” which you can pick up in a bundle with the original game for even more chances to defend the homeland from the Soviet invasion.

Save America from an Evil Private Military Contractor (PMC)

Tom Clancy's HAWX

Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X.

Set in the near future, Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. puts you in the shoes of David Crenshaw, a fighter pilot in the High Altitude Warfare eXperimental unit. You’ll be fighting against Artemis, a Private Military Contractor who decides to bring the United States down to its knees by launching a full scale attack. Released back in 2009 for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, you can also pick up a sequel for even more H.A.W.X. fighter action.

Save America from Zombies

Left 4 Dead

Left 4 Dead

Ok, maybe you don’t actually get to save America in this one, but you do get to lead a group of survivors through hordes of infected zombies. Set in an aftermath of an apocalyptic pandemic, Left 4 Dead was released back in 2008 for PC and Xbox 360. And there is also a sequel that you can pick up for even more zombie action.

Enjoy your Independence Day holiday and have a fun and safe weekend!
