Open Letter: GameMarshal.com needs an Editor-in-Chief When my friend Luke and I launched GameMarshal.com a few years ago, we had the best of intentions. We wanted to build a successful and informative gaming site that would offer unique articles and views into the gaming industry. Over the past couple of years, we refined the design and built a custom content management system all with the purpose of making the site painless to update so we could concentrate on creating amazing content.

Unfortunately, real life took over. Today, we just simply don't have the time to handle everything (write/code/design/maintain), and this is where we need your help. We'd like to stay involved in helping run GameMarshal.com, but we are looking for someone to champion the editorial side of things. While we'll take care of the server and help promote the site, you'll have the opportunity to build your own editorial team and create content as you see fit.

So, you might ask: "What's in it for me? If I will create the content and build the editorial team, will you just reap all of the benefits?" No, we are not looking to take advantage of you. We genuinely want the site to succeed and that's why we want to stay involved. We'll be helping out as much as we can and we are hoping that in the long term, the site can start generating revenues to supplement all of our incomes, including yours. In the mean time, we can promise that you'll get to enjoy at least the following things:

  • A worry-free, ready to go website. We'll take care of the server (currently costs about $100/month to run the site), we'll take care of design and coding as well as maintaining the backend. You just tell us what you need improved or fixed and we'll be on top of it.

  • You'll have a foot into the gaming industry. As an Editor-in-Chief, you are welcome to attend industry events such as E3 as well as private previews set up by gaming publishers and developers. If GameMarshal.com is invited to a beta, or a developer wants to fly one of us out to their office for an exclusive preview, you're our guy/gal who will be going. We also have a full business license so you'll never have to worry about not getting into an event if it is a requirement.

  • You can receive and keep all of the preview/review game copies sent to GameMarshal.com or any other promotional or review material that GameMarshal.com receives.
If there are any other perks that you want to discuss, please feel free. At the end of the day, we are looking for someone who will be the right fit. We've put a lot of work in building the site and rather than just killing it, we'd love for someone to take over and run with it. Drop me a line at and let me know if you are interested. We can chat over Skype to iron out any questions you might have.

Thanks,
Anton Zlygostev
